Mark Yates takes his Macclesfield Town side to Stockport this afternoon, as the curtain comes down on our pre-season preparations.
With just one week to go until our EFL return, the Manager will be looking for a spirited performance from the players - all of whom will be eager to cement their place in the starting line-up at Swindon next week.
There is no doubt that the mood in the camp is one of anticipation - with every single player ready for what will be another epic journey in our club’s illustrious history.
With the exception of Elliott Durrell who continues his rehabilitation following surgery on a groin injury last week, Mark will have a full squad at his disposal for the trip to our local rivals and there is little doubt that although the match is being billed as a friendly, we will be going all out to secure victory.
Stockport will provide a tough test for the EFL newcomers however and will be eager to claim a confidence boosting scalp ahead of their Conference North opener with FC United next Saturday.
They began their pre-season programme with an impressive 2 - 1 victory at AFC Halifax Town at the start of the month and followed this up with a 6 - 0 victory at Stockport Town.
A 1 - 0 victory at Buxton then ensued, before League One side Rochdale claimed victory at Edgeley Park with Joe Thompson scoring the only goal of the game.
Last Saturday The Hatters were comfortably beaten as Everton Under 23’s as they ran out 4 - 1 winners, before County returned to winning ways last Tuesday evening when they defeated Warrington Town by four goals to one.
